Is it the name your after? What do you want in a marker? Accuracy? Air effiency? Speed?

What kind of game are you going to play? Rec? Speedball? Just go out and shoot in the mountains?

        What's your price range?

i play ball in any form that i can i love the game. my passion is speedball. in speedball i usually play mid to front, but on occation i do play back.

the max i can speed is about a grand plus or minus.

If you got the money to spend, do look into the Smart Parts Shocker. Base model has gone for as low as $599 on eBay.

My team all shoots Shockers. One of us shoots an Ion.

We have 3 backups for our 6 man team - 1 shocker, 1 nasty impulse and 1 ion.

The ones that shoot shockers (including myself) can't see ourselves using any other marker right now. ANd yes, there are tons of nice markers coming out like the DM6.

i love the size and feel of a shocker. what i'm concerned about is how are they on air? with and with out the maxflo system.

no bad if you have the dwell and r.o.f. setup right.. but thats pretty much with any marker

Are you concerned about the Shocker's air because you aren't around where you can fill it?

It's an air hog... but where we play its all day air for like 5 bucks.

If you're doing woods ball, yeah, its a problem getting off more than 1000 balls per tank if its 68-cu / 4500.

generally i'm around a compressor, but i want to make sure that i have enough air to get through a game. if i'm playing back i throw a lot of paint. i just want to make sure it's something that will work for me. the gas usage is an issue for me any ways.

i'm thinking that my next gun will be on of the new timmys or an alias.

If you're playing back, how many pods are you going to go through in a game? You'll get 1000+ off of the tank I mentioned which is definately enough for 5 pods and a hopper.

Shockers and Velocity: Some may experience FSDO. First Shot Drop Off. But that's easily remedied with a better, faster, more efficient board. A Dynasty Board maybe. I've never experienced it with the new (what they call NERVE board). Other than that, with a quality tank that has decent recharge rate and even with the stock vertical reg, no velocity drop. Extremely consistent. Add a HE (High Efficency) bolt and you got yourself a top of the line marker. But of course you don't need all that. A stock shocker is just as pro as any shocker with ups. Ultimately its the player and not the marker.

I'm in the market for a phantom pump as we speak. I think I can get one for under 200 bucks (stock pump).

Timmy's. :) Tend to be heavy.

I do like WGP's Karnivor. THey should be a little cheaper now adays.

A good cheaper with high end functionality would be the ION. Tons of people are showing up with this marker now. Why spend 1000 when an ION costs 300 with capable features.

the alias that i held is lighter than my freestyle.

                                      i also like the karnivors.

i really like the feel of the ion. that is the other marker i'm considering.

i like timmy's in general.. they're fast.. a bit complicated

check out the marker specific accessories for the ion at
                                        www.pbreview.com

you can take that $300 gun and make it look like a shocker.. its slick they have all metal bodies .. all kinds of stuff for it..

Considering cost, the Ion is a steal! Fast marker, you can change the styles - its a great gun!

for what you get for what you pay there is no comparison with a ion. i just like a double stacked tube body style like a cocker or a timmie.

makes you feel like you got more in your hand yes.. but remember the lower profile of the gun makes it less to shoot.

that is a good point, it's a comfort issue. i feel like i have to lean down and into an ion. i'ld have to feel it out more to see if i could get use to it.

i assume that when you say less to shoot you mean a smaller target?

yeah smaller target.. lol.. yes shocker is probibly one of the lowest profile.. but the ion is small.. great gun for snap shooters too.. im still debating to adding the shocker to my collection.. that or a nerve.. but im smart parts all the way

I love the shocker. BUT... here's the drawback. Sometimes there's a lot of maintenance before it is the perfect marker. Seriously. From air problems to FSDO (first shot drop off). But once you figure it out (HE Bolt) its a marker you won't ever want to be without. I've run across a lot of players using DM5s, Angels, etc. Trading markers with them during games has always resulted in a "I want a Shocker" attitude. From the sound, feel (no kickback), to the accuracy and speed. Its an all in one. I went from Smart Parts Impulse to a WGP Oracle then Karnivor and when I got a hold of a Shocker I haven't even needed to desire another marker.

I've had one for a year this month actually. It's gone down once on me due to a busted o-ring. Replaced it and it was good to go. Last month, after 11 months, the vision strip was broken. But that doesn't stop it because I turned vision off and played a whole day without vision on with no problems.

Not once have I chopped a ball as well. Shooting with a Revolution and max bps based on rebound settings, etc.

Great place to go: www.shockerowners.com/index.php YDNA is the master tech over there. All Shocker questions, tech questions, problems, etc. he can answer! Also, FSDO GUY is a great tech guy. He's our team tech and owns two shockers as well.

don't take this as a bad thing, but everyone here seems to be all about smart parts. i've seen groups that have said the same thing about angels, timmies and cockers. it seems to me that the advantages and disadvantages stay the same just the name of the markers are moved around. it just depends what group you talk to. i think at some point reguardless of out come i'm just going to have to pick a maker that works for me.

Yes. Its whatever marker works for you. You have to shoot em first though. Personally I like the autococker feel. Its cool after a while. But I LOVE a closed bolt that Smart Parts has. Seriously. I've shot all kinds from crappy Spiders to all the high end markers. I loved the Karnivor. LOVED IT! But then I went with the Shocker and I can't ever go back. Weight alone is one thing. Look, feel, sound, etc... is another.

All these high end markers are as accurate and as fast as you want. Its ultimately the player NOT the marker.

I've been blasted many times by Phantoms (pump guns) while I shot back with my Shocker. So it really doesn't matter the speed, the name of the gun or the accuracy. Its the player behind the marker.

I was hoping to get a Phantom for Christmas but haven't found a good used one at a decent price yet. But I'm definately going to be playing more pump this year!!!
